1.Concerning the Use of Libraries
- Visitors are free to read any book within the facility, but only those with library cards may borrow books. Those who live, work, or attend school in Kumamoto City and live in a municipality that has a library material lending agreement may create a library card free of charge. You must show proof of residence or identity to make a library card (something that has both your name and address listed such as a driver's license, health insurance card, and mail received within the last 3 months).
- Your library card will expire 5 years from the date of registration. Library cards can be renewed.
2.When Borrowing
- Please bring your library card with you.

3.When Returning
- Please return books to the counter. You may also use the return box.
4.Other
- If you have a book past its return date, you will not be able to make any new rentals,reservations, or extensions.
- If you lose a library book, you must compensate the facility.
- If you login to the MyLibrary service from any library homepage, you may confirm your rentals and reservations or change your email and password. You can login by using your library card number (the 13-digit barcode on the back) and a password.
Notice: Your first temporary password will be the last 4 digits of your date of birth.
Example: Someone born on January 2nd would have the password 0102 - Kumamoto's free Wi-Fi is available at all libraries.

7.Kumamoto City Library's Use Manners
- Drinking and eating in the library is prohibited.
- Talking on the phone is prohibited.
- Taking photos in the library is prohibited.
- Holding books past their rental period or taking books without checking them out is prohibited.
- The library premises are non-smoking areas.
- Guests who have been drinking alcohol will be denied entry.
- You may not bring your pets into the facility. However, seeing-eye dogs and disability service dogs are exempt from this rule.
- In Kumamoto City Library, you may only use your personal computer in the designated seats in the 2nd floor study room.
